patrol boys
Remember when we exited SMS. We were escorted from the school to within 1 block of the school by the patrol boys. I lived at 4956 N. Claremont. So they walked us down Claremont Ave going north from Ainslie on Claremont to Argyle. And I was home. I didn't have to cross a street to get to SMS. We were quiet and respectful at all times.

I think the girls were that way. I don't know about the boys
ReplyDeleteWe were all respectfull. Jim We just hid it well.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, when you were talking about patrol boys, I recalled getting reported for crossing at Lawrence and Bell coming back from lunch. I thought because I was in 8th grade he wouldn't dare turn me in - silly me. You're absolutely right about being quiet and respectful at all times. I think the fear of the consequences if we didn't behave kept us all in proper order. I also remember anytime I went to your house your Mom would have just baked some sort of treat. Do you remember the time we made our own pizza and used ketchup for the topping sauce? Or, how about our first trip downtown by ourselves; do you recall making a record together on that momentous day?
ReplyDeleteI was a patrol boy way back when. The best part was getting out of going to church and meeting a Wally's poultry for donuts from the bakery before we had to go to school.
ReplyDeleteAileen,
ReplyDeleteI remember that record! Whatever happened to it? When we went downtown I think we wore white gloves and nylons.
